DeepSeek vs ChatGPT: Comparison Through Real-Time Testing

Besides the capabilities of GPT-4o and DeepSeek R1, let’s identify the differences between DeepSeek vs ChatGPT through real-world testing. We used both ChatGPT and DeepSeek AI for content ideation, reasoning, and coding problem solving and we found an interesting result. After analyzing this comparison, you will be able to find out the best AI assistance for your use case.

1. Content Development

To test how both AI tools help in content development, we ask both to give a comprehensive outline for the content topic on What is Digital Marketing. We use the prompt “I am writing a comprehensive article on What is Digital Marketing and Its Need for Businesses, so give me an outline including points that I should use in the content”

ChatGPT Response:

GPT-4o responded to this prompt directly and provided a detailed outline for this content. It contains 8 sections from the introduction to the last section of the conclusion. Each has a specific point to write, such as “What is digital marketing?”, benefits, evolution, and Conclusion”. ChatGPT provides each section with tips to write content in detail.

DeepSeek R1 Response:

On the other hand, DeepSeek R1 responded to this prompt very briefly and provided 11 sections to include in the content. It also gave the same points along with 2 extra points “Case Studies or Example” and “Call to Action” which ChatGPT did not provide. Each section explains what content should be written there with short tips.

2. Academic Question Analysis

Next, we ask an academic question to both GPT-4o mini and DeepSeek chat to test which one gives the best and most detailed answer. The question we asked “Calculate the momentum of a car moving at a speed of 20 m/s with a mass of 1,200 kg”

ChatGPT Response:

In response to this question, ChatGPT gave the formula to calculate Momentum P = m x v and then provided the answer “momentum of the car is 24,000 kg·m/s.”

DeepSeek R1 Response:

In response to this question, DeepSeek R1 also gave the formula first but then it explained “m” and “v” then solved the question and provided the same answer. Compared to ChatGPT, DeepSeek AI answered the question in more detail.

3. Cording Task

In the third comparison test of ChatGPT and DeepSeek R1, we considered checking their coding expertise for web development. That’s why we gave them a prompt to write a code. We asked, “Write a code for a simple calculator using JS, CSS, and HTML”.

ChatGPT Response:

ChatGPT gave the detailed coding in response to this question as shown in the image.

DeepSeek R1 Response:

When this question was asked to DeepSeek, then it separately provided the codes for each one, such as HTML, CSS, and JS. However, besides the coding, DeepSeek also shared information about “How it works” and “How to run”. Compared to ChatGPT, DeepSeek API provides more comprehensive and detailed results which is very helpful for a web developer.

The Takeaway!

After ChatGPT, DeepSeek has created a buzz in the AI industry. From individuals, students, and businesses to developers, these AI assistants can help anyone to achieve their tasks efficiently, smoothly, and quickly. However, choosing between ChatGPT and DeepSeek and finding out which one is better depends on your needs.

DeepSeek is a budget-friendly AI model that works best for technical tasks and others and provides results instantly. On the other hand, ChatGPT works great for content ideation, research, and many more.

Now, we can only say that it is just the beginning, there is more to come in the AI world further which we can not predict. Both AI chatbots are free to use and you can also use them on your own to find your best one.
